Home Lien Definition
Home Lien is a legal claim against an asset that is used to secure a loan on a property. The lien means a collateral against the amount of money owed. It limits the owner's title to his or her home as the property cannot be sold until the lien is removed. If the owner wants to sell the property the lien must be paid. The claim is documented and filed in the recorder's office of the county in which the property is located.
