Hybrid Security

Hybrid Security Definition

Hybrid Security refers to a type of securities that combines the elements of two or more different financial instruments. These securities show both debt and equity characteristics as they pay a predictable rate of return until a given date, at which date the holder can decide if he or she wants to convert the security into the underlying share. The most common example is a convertible bond.
