Put-Call Ratio Definition

Indicates the trading volume of put options compared to call options. It is a popular sentiment indicator attempting to gauge the level of bullishness or bearishness in the market. A high volume of puts compared to calls indicates a bearish sentiment in the market. There are several put-call ratios. Many investors rely on the ratio computed from data collected by the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
