Quiet Period

Quiet Period Definition

A time period in which a company whom has filed to go public with an IPO (Initial Public Offering), must remain silent about its company and stock. in order to not inflate the value of the upcoming IPO stock price artificially.   This is due to a SEC (Security Exchange Commission) ban on publicity until 40-90 days from the IPO.


Additional meaning of Quiet Period:

It is also called the cooling-off period.
