Regulatory Risk

Regulatory Risk Definition

Regulatory Risk is a financial risk associated with a change in the laws related to a particular industry, country, or type of security that is likely to affect investments.   For example, utility companies deal with regulations such as infrastructure and customer payments.  Regulatory risk for these companies can arise from events like law requiring a change in the fees they can charge customers.
