Rolling Returns Definition

The returns on an investment measured over a given number of consecutive periods, usually years. This number reflects the annualized average return starting with the beginning earliest period and finishing with the end of the most recent. For example, the 5-year rolling return for 2010 begins on 01. January 2006 and ends 31. December 2010.
