Smart card Definition
A plastic card with a microprocessor chip in it. Smart cards used for financial transactions typically resemble a credit or debit card, and are able to store a great deal more information than standard credit cards that use magnetic strips or barcodes. Smart cards also have added security capabilities that help to keep information more secure than a magnetic strip card.
