Stipend Definition
A fixed or regular amount of money paid as a salary or allowance, e.g. a scholarship, internship, apprenticeship, or fellowship allowance granted to a student or payment to members of the clergy. It does not always represent payment for work performed, rather it is a payment that enables somebody to perform a task that is normally unpaid. The payment is sometimes complemented by other benefits such as food, or accommodation.
