Street Expectation Definition

Refers to expectation made by brokers and securities analysts regarding the average earnings estimates. The term is also known as the "market consensus" or "earnings expectations". Shares of corporations that fail to meet these expectations often suffer a drop in their  prices, while stock prices of companies that perform better than it was estimated may increase.
