Tax Fraud is a willful act done with the intent to cheat in the payment of any tax liability. Examples of tax fraud include keeping two sets of books or using a false Social Security number. Fraud results in either civil penalties or criminal punishment. Civil penalties can equal to 75 percent of the underpayment. Criminal punishment includes fines and imprisonment.
