Reservable Deposit

Reservable Deposit Definition

Reservable Deposit refers to a bank deposit subject to Federal Reserve's reserve requirements.

Banks have to hold a percentage of customer deposits as reserves. These deposits include transaction accounts, savings accounts, and nonpersonal time deposits. Banks do not earn interest on their reservable deposits. Reserve requirements are an instrument of monetary policy.
