Federal Reserve Bank is one of 12 regional banks  that together form the Federal Reserve System in the USA. These banks are the operating arms of the central bank. They are responsible for maintaining reserves, issuing bank notes, implementing the policies of the Federal Reserve Board, controlling the money supply and are involved in the setting of national monetary policy.

Federal Reserve Banks not only lend money to member banks, they also supervise member banks in their areas. They are also known as "district Feds".
